Inclusive Innovation

Inclusive Innovation is an initiative to make Swedish medical technology innovation more accurate, relevant and powerful when it is also equal and inclusive.

Active gender equality work and a norm-critical approach can contribute to new ways of working, to the discovery of new target groups and, not least, to new medical devices and services. With a more inclusive approach, these will be more targeted and will be able to better meet the needs of healthcare professions as well as patients and citizens. Increased awareness of gender equality, diversity and a norm-critical way of working will eventually provide a competitive advantage.

Please see Vinnova's short film (1:30) about what norm critical innovation is and how it can strengthen innovation capacity and contribute to inclusive social development. Watch the movie.

The project therefore aims in a first step to increase Medtech4Health's internal competence in gender equality, and then spread that knowledge further to funded innovation projects and other stakeholders in medical technology.

The project will translate Medtech4Health's gender equality strategy into activities and actions for a more active and qualified approach that permeates the entire program's activities. By increasing knowledge about gender equality, we will jointly create working methods and methods to take advantage of opportunities in medical technology innovation.

Would you like to receive free support for the development of your medical device or service?

Kunskapslyft and Medtech Innovation model™ inviteyou to a free digital information meeting where you who have received funds from Medtech4Health can get support in the development of your medical device/service. The innovation model is industry-specific and aims to streamline medical device companies' ability to bring research results to product and to minimize the gap that arises before companies can attract investors.

Medtech4Health's gender equality project gets underway

The Inclusive Innovation project will provide all those who in any way participate in Medtech4Health with activities and tools in gender equality and norm-critical innovation.
With a more inclusive approach, products and services become more targeted and better meet the needs of healthcare professions, patients and citizens. Increased awareness of gender equality, diversity and a norm-critical way of working not only gives a competitive advantage, but also a more accurate innovation process.

In the long run, the project contributes to the development and implementation of new medical devices and services.

The first activities start in August, but if you are already curious about what is coming, you are welcome to contact project manager Malin Hollmark.

Do you want to contribute with new solutions to the needs of osteoarthritis care?

The goal of the innovation engine project in VGR is to increase collaboration between healthcare activities, academia and the medical device industry – to find new, innovative solutions to the needs of healthcare. The project contributes with a process through which the needs of healthcare can be presented to external actors, and provides a bridge for collaboration. First to test the process is the osteoarthritis area.

Osteoarthritis occurs in just over a quarter of all individuals over the age of 40 and hip osteoarthritis is one of the most common forms. VGR as Innovation Engine is currently working to seek external solutions to needs based on hip osteoarthritis patients' care journey.
